Boys Basketball

Reisterstown Recreation Boys Basketball is an in-house developmental league for boys aged 5 – 17 where players of all skill levels can learn the game of basketball and play in competitive games all winter.

Boys Basketball runs a Winter season from mid-November through February each year with Registration normally opening in October.

Practice sessions vary week-to-week but run from 5pm – 9pm on a weekday.

Games are weekly and the location varies by the age bracket.

  • Chatsworth Elementary (5-6)
  • Hannah Moore (7-11)
  • Franklin High School (12+)

The program is open for any player from kindergarten through high school. We have teams for players from any age (5-17) and skill level.

Note: The 5-6 year old division focuses on instruction and skill development. There is no competition at this level.

Each year, uniforms will be provided by the program for each player. Players must bring their own appropriate high tops or quarter length basketball sneakers, shorts, proper eyewear (for those requiring glasses), and water.

  • Permitted: Simple hair ties and headbands in team colors.
  • Not Permitted: Jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, is not allowed during games for safety reasons.

We conduct evaluations to ensure fair and balanced competition across all teams. Evaluations are not tryouts-once your son’s registration is paid, he is guaranteed a place on a team, regardless of his skill level or prior experience. Evaluations are preferred for all players.

Players are generally assigned to divisions based on their age group to ensure fair and balanced competition. However, we understand that some players may be ready for more advanced challenges.

Players have the option to “play up” one division above their age group. All requests will be considered based on skill level, safety, and development needs.

Our Girls Basketball program relies entirely on dedicated, non-paid volunteers. If you’re passionate about helping kids grow and succeed, we’d love to have you on board as a Coach or Assistant Coach! No prior basketball experience is needed-just a commitment to making a positive impact. See our [Volunteer] Page for the process.

Thanks to you from the commissioners!
