Become a Volunteer

Volunteering with the Reisterstown Area Recreation Council is a meaningful way to support the local community while creating lasting memories for your family. By stepping in as a coach, team parent, or in another supporting role, you help ensure that programs run smoothly and that children have positive, enriching experiences. Your involvement directly contributes to the success and growth of recreational opportunities in the community.

Parents are especially encouraged to get involved, as volunteering provides a unique chance to connect with other families, build community pride, and play an active role in your child’s development. Whether you’re leading a team or helping behind the scenes, your time and effort make a real difference—and help keep these programs strong and thriving for years to come.

All volunteers with the Reisterstown Area Recreation Council are required to complete a simple annual background check. This is a quick and routine step that helps ensure a safe, positive environment for all participants. The process is straightforward and designed to be hassle-free, so you can focus on what really matters—supporting the kids and enjoying your time as part of the community.

It’s recommended to do this from a desktop/laptop, not a mobile phone.

Start by opening the Baltimore County Recreation & Parks Background Check page.

  • Choose the P – S Communities.
  • Choose Reisterstown.
  • Complete the background information and submit.

Applications typically take less than a week.

If you have completed this for another sport or volunteer position for Baltimore County in the past 12 months, then you do not need to register again. You can check your current status on the Baltimore County Volunteer Link.
